Titriyski, Rosenthal of UH Repeat, Frosh Cryst and Jokanovic Earn The Big West Men's Volleyball Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week 
Kristian Titriyski, Hawa'i | Sophomore • Opposite Hitter • Sofia, Bulgaria
  • Powering Hawai’i to a pair of road wins to remain undefeated in league action, Kristian Titriyski has earned back-to-back nods as The Big West Offensive Player of the Week. This marks the sophomore’s fourth award of the season and sixth career offensive honor.  

  • Titriyski led the team with 4.50 kills on .333 hitting and 1.38 digs per set with two aces in the two-match road series sweep at No. 5 UC Irvine.  

  • In Friday’s come-from-behind five-set win in the series opener, Titriyski put down a team-high 16 kills, with eight digs, two aces and a block. 

  • The native of Sofia, Bulgaria, followed up with a season-high 20 kills on .448 hitting with three digs and a block in the straight-set rematch. Titriyski recorded 15 of his 20 kills while hitting .600 through the first two sets of play.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Jackson Cryst, Long Beach State | Freshman • Middle Blocker • Long Beach, Calif.
  • Long Beach State’s Jackson Cryst anchored the team in a series sweep of UC San Diego to claim Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors. This is a second such weekly award for Cryst, also earning the award back on Jan. 12 to go along with last week’s Freshman honors.  

  • Cryst totaled 12 blocks, or 1.50 per set, to go along with 1.50 kills per set on .556 hitting with three aces in a pair of 3-1 victories against the Tritons.  

  • In the series opener, Cryst posted eight blocks and hit .714 with five kills on seven errorless swings in the road win.  

  • Saturday, the Long Beach, Calif., native followed with four blocks and seven kills with a pair of aces. 

  • Cryst is second in The Big West and 13th nationally in blocking with a 1.064 average and rates third in the league with 0.462 aces per set as LBSU players take the top three spots in the category.

Setter of the Week 
Tread Rosenthal, Hawai'i | Junior • Setter • Austin, Texas
  • Hawai’i junior Tread Rosenthal continues to dominate the newest conference weekly award category, claiming Big West Setter of the Week for a sixth consecutive week, marking the 10th of the season and 15th all-time honor in just the second year of the award.  

  • Rosenthal averaged 11.38 assists per set in a two-match series sweep of No. 5 UC Irvine. The Rainbow Warriors offense hit a combined .367 in the series with Rosenthal directing the offense.  

  • In the five-set opening win, the native of Austin, Texas, nearly posted a triple-double with 53 assists, 10 digs and a career-high nine kills to go along with six blocks. 

  • In the rematch, Rosenthal assisted on 38 plays with four digs and four blocks in the sweep where UH hit .453.   

  • Rosenthal continues to lead The Big West in assists average, bumping up to 11.01 per set. He is also in the conference top 10 in aces (.333) and blocks (.833) per set this season.

Freshman of the Week 
Andrej Jokanovic, UC Irvine | Freshman • Outside Hitter • Cannes, France
  • 8136UC Irvine first-year player Andrej Jokanovic paced the Anteaters in a high-octane weekend series with No. 2 Hawai’i to claim a sixth Big West Freshman of the Week honor. 

  • Jokanovic averaged 3.88 kills, 5.25 points, 1.25 digs and 1.00 aces in eight sets against the Rainbow Warriors from the Bren Events Center.  

  • The freshman outside hitter put away a match-high 22 kills in Friday’s five-setter, one shy of a career-high, hitting .314 while recording eight digs with four blocks and a pair of aces.  

  • In the second meeting, the native of Cannes, France, totaled nine digs and a career-high six aces to go along with two blocks and two digs.  

  • Jokanovic currently rates in the top five in The Big West as the highest-ranking frosh in the conference in kills (3.52), points (4.20) and aces (.415) per set with a .310 hitting percentage, good for sixth in the league.
