Long Beach State Trio Joined by Mainstay Rosenthal for Season's Final Set of The Big West Men's Volleyball Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week 
Connor Bloom, Long Beach State | Senior • Outside/Opposite Hitter • Huntington Beach, Calif.
  • Providing a pivotal senior spark to cap the regular season with a pair of rivalry week victories, Connor Bloom of Long Beach State picked up a first career nod as Big West Offensive Player of the Week. This marks Bloom’s second-ever weekly conference award, once earning freshman recognition back on March 27, 2023. 

  • All told on Black-Blue Rivalry weekend, Bloom averaged 3.33 kills on .390 hitting with 1.78 digs per set as LBSU secured the No. 2 seed in The Hawaiian Islands presents the 2026 Outrigger Big West Men’s Volleyball Championship bracket.  

  • The senior from Huntington Beach, Calif., matched the mark with 15 strikes on .462 hitting in the four-setter on the road on Saturday to go along with six digs and three aces.  

  • In the five-set win over UC Irvine, Bloom delivered a career-high 15 kills while adding two more career highs with 10 digs and three assists, securing a double-double.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Kellen Larson, Lon Beach State | Sophomore • Libero • Irvine, Calif.
  • Anchoring the Long Beach State backcourt in a pair of pivotal conference wins, sophomore Kellen Larson has been named Big West Defensive Player of the Week. This is Larson’s second career honor, also earning acclaim back on April 7, 2025. 

  • The libero from Irvine, Calif., averaged 3.22 digs per set with double figure efforts in each match against Black-Blue rival UC Irvine. 

  • The weekend was highlighted by a career-high 18 digs in Saturday’s road victory against the Anteaters, a four-set win.  

  • Larson heads into the postseason averaging 1.74 digs per set, third in The Big West.

Setter of the Week 
Tread Rosenthal, Hawai'i | Junior • Setter • Austin, Texas
  • 9Hawai’i junior Tread Rosenthal capped the season with the season’s 11th and a 16th career Big West Setter of the Week award after the Rainbow Warriors claimed the regular-season crown and top seed in The Hawaiian Islands presents the 2026 Outrigger Big West Men’s Volleyball Championship.  

  • The native of Austin, Texas, averaged 9.00 assists per set and directed the offense to a .341 hitting percentage in UH's two-match series sweep of CSUN. Rosenthal also led the team with 13 blocks (1.86 avg.) and 13 digs (1.86 avg.) while also providing four kills and serving up two aces.   

  • In Friday’s title-clinching series opener, Rosenthal tallied 27 assists, four kills, seven blocks and six digs in a sweeping victory.  

  • On Saturday, the setter dished out 36 assists with six blocks and seven digs in the rematch, a four-set win while the team set a season high with 14.5 total blocks. 

  • Rosenthal, a semifinalist for AVCA National Player of the Year, is averaging a league-best 10.66 assists per set, good for second in the country.

Freshman of the Week 
Jackson Cryst, Long Beach State | Freshman • Middle Blocker • Long Beach, Calif.
  • 8042Helping Long Beach State finish out the regular season with a pair of victories over Black-Blue rival UC Irvine, Jackson Cryst has claimed Big West Freshman of the Week. This marks a second such honor of the season and a fourth overall weekly award in 2026.  

  • The freshman middle blocker made a major impact on both ends of the floor, totaling 18 kills on .654 hitting with 10 total blocks (1.11 per set) with a pair of aces. 

  • In the five-set home opener, contributed 10 kills on 12 errorless swings to hit .833 with five blocks including one solo stuff.  

  • In Saturday’s rematch as the Beach secured the second seed in the upcoming Big West Championship bracket, the Long Beach, Calif., native added eight kills, five blocks and two aces in the four-setter at the Bren.  

  • Cryst ranks second in The Big West and 11th nationally in blocks average with 1.086 per set and is 16th in the country and 3rd in the league in aces average at 0.452 per set on the season.
