Powering CSUN to a pair of home sweeps, junior Jalen Phillips has been named Big West Offensive Player of the Week. This marks a first weekly honor of the season for Phillips, and a fourth career offensive nod.

The opposite hitter from Anaheim, Calif., put down 22 kills, or 4.67 per set, as No. 17 CSUN picked up home sweeps over then-No. 19 Lincoln Memorial and UC Merced.

Phillips registered 14 kills on .545 hitting to go with seven digs and a career-high seven blocks against LMU on Wednesday to highlight the week, following up with eight kills, two digs and an ace against UC Merced.

Helping UC Santa Barbara to a pair of home victories, George Bruening has been named Big West Defensive Player of the Week. This is Bruening’s first career defensive accolade, winning the offensive award back on Jan. 12.

Friday, the redshirt sophomore outside hitter from Newport Beach, Calif., reached a career-high 12 digs versus then-No. 19 Lincoln Memorial while also powering down 14 kills and contributing five blocks in the four-setter.
