Offensive Player of the Week 
Jalen Phillips, CSUN | Junior • Opposite Hitter • Anaheim, Calif.
  • 30415Powering CSUN to a pair of home sweeps, junior Jalen Phillips has been named Big West Offensive Player of the Week. This marks a first weekly honor of the season for Phillips, and a fourth career offensive nod.  

  • The opposite hitter from Anaheim, Calif., put down 22 kills, or 4.67 per set, as No. 17 CSUN picked up home sweeps over then-No. 19 Lincoln Memorial and UC Merced.  

  • Phillips registered 14 kills on .545 hitting to go with seven digs and a career-high seven blocks against LMU on Wednesday to highlight the week, following up with eight kills, two digs and an ace against UC Merced.  

  • Currently, Phillips leads The Big West and is 11th nationally in kills average with 3.82 per set.

Defensive Player of the Week 
George Bruening, UC Santa Barbara | Redshirt Sophomore • Outside Hitter • Newport Beach, Calif.
  • Helping UC Santa Barbara to a pair of home victories, George Bruening has been named Big West Defensive Player of the Week. This is Bruening’s first career defensive accolade, winning the offensive award back on Jan. 12. 

  • Bruening led the team in digs for the week while also leading on offense with averages of 4.29 kills and 2.29 digs per set over a pair of ranked opponents.  

  • Friday, the redshirt sophomore outside hitter from Newport Beach, Calif., reached a career-high 12 digs versus then-No. 19 Lincoln Memorial while also powering down 14 kills and contributing five blocks in the four-setter.  

  • Wednesday in the sweeping win over then-No. 6 Pepperdine, Bruening added four digs and 16 kills on .355 hitting.

Setter of the Week 
Cole Schobel, UC Santa Barabara | Junior • Setter • Costa Mesa, Calif.
  • 8134Directing UC Santa Barbara to a pair of wins including a marquee takedown of then-No. 6 Pepperdine, Cole Schobel has been named Big West Setter of the Week. This is a second honor of the season for Schobel. 

  • The junior from Costa Mesa, Calif., paced the Gauchos to sweep of the Waves, finishing with 33 assists (11.0 per set), to go along with six kills and no errors off of nine attempts.  

  • Schobel also pushed UCSB to a four-set victory over then-No. 19 Lincoln Memorial with 23 assists and nine digs on Friday.  then-No. 6 Pepperdine with 11 assists per set and 33 overall.  

  •  Schobel currently rates fourth in The Big West and 27th nationally with a 9.02 assist per set average.

Freshman of the Week 
Grayson Albers, CSUN | Redshirt Freshman • Middle Blocker • Sacramento, Calif
  • Helping CSUN to a pair of sweeps, first-year player Grayson Albers has claimed Big West Freshman of the Week for the second time of the season. 

  • Albers finished the week with 13 kills on 16 swings without a hitting error to record an efficient .813 percentage in three-set victories over Lincoln Memorial and UC Merced.  

  • In Wednesday’s win against Lincoln Memorial, the middle blocker from Sacramento, Calif., was a perfect 7-for-7 on the attack with two aces, four digs and a block to highlight the week.
