Offensive Player of the Week  Malea Johnson, CSUN | Junior • Forward • Chatsworth, Calif.

• CSUN forward Malea Johnson delivered a five-point performance off the bench to claim Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors for Oct. 5. This is the first weekly award of Johnson's career. 

• Johnson assisted on the Matadors' opening goal before breaking a 1-1 tie with an unassisted strike in the 63rd minute. 

• The eventual game-winner was followed by another goal just six minutes later to complete the first career brace for the junior. 

• The Chatsworth, Calif., native placed all three shot attempts on target in the 4-1 victory at Cal State Bakersfield, narrowly missing a hat trick following a late team save.

• Johnson's breakout performance helped the Matadors complete a perfect 2-0 week on the road.

Defensive Player of the Week  Maddie Buckley, UC Santa Barbara | Senior • Goalkeeper • Lafayette, Calif.

• UC Santa Barbara goalkeeper Maddie Buckley posted consecutive clean sheets to secure Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors for Oct. 5. This is the fifth weekly award of Buckley's career (Sept. 1, Oct. 13, 2025 | Sept. 2, Oct. 21, 2024). 

• Buckley stopped all seven shots placed on frame during the week and has now kept opponents off the scoreboard in three consecutive matches.

• The Lafayette, Calif., native recorded the 23rd career shutout, moving into third place on UCB's all-time shutout list.

• Buckley's work in net helped the Gauchos remain perfect (2-0-2) in Big West play.

Rookie of the Week  Jana Akins, CSUN • Freshman • Forward • Costa Mesa, Calif.

• CSUN forward Jana Akins provided two second-half goals off the bench to earn Big West Rookie of the Week honors for Oct. 5. This is the first Big West weekly award of Akins' career.

• The Costa Mesa, Calif., native converted a penalty kick in the 77th minute to equalize at Long Beach State.

• The freshman found the back of the net before again in just 29 minutes of action during a 4-1 victory at Cal State Bakersfield.

• Akins has scored in three consecutive matches, with all three goals coming during the second half.
