- Long Beach State guard Gavin Sykes averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in two wins to earn The Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week award. It is the first career weekly honor for Sykes.
- The Beach freshman scored 16 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the floor and 2-for-4 from behind the arc, with six rebounds, two assists and one steal in an 88-73 home win over UC Riverside, Thursday night.
- The Sacramento product set the freshman scoring record at Long Beach State with 34 points, going 15-of-16 from the free throw line, in an 87-80 road win at CSUN on Saturday.
- Long Beach State is on a three-game win streak with an 8-11 overall record and a 4-3 conference mark. Sykes currently ranks sixth in scoring among freshman in the NCAA this season, averaging 18.9 points per game.
