Agi and Maxwell of Long Beach State Joined by CSUN's Sentes and Bates of UC Irvine For Big West Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

Offensive Player of the Week 
Elise Agi, Long Beach State | Senior • Outside Hitter • San Francisco
  • Long Beach State senior Elise Agi led the Beach to a 3-0 record in the final non-conference weekend of the season to earn a first career nod as Big West Offensive Player of the Week.  

  • Agi posted two double-doubles, hit .326 and averaged 3.46 kills, 3.00 digs, and 3.88 points over all 13 sets at the UniWyo Invite as LBSU beach host Wyoming, Portland and Idaho State. 

  • In the opener against the host Cowgirls, Agi hit .400, recording a double-double of 18 kills and a career-high 16 digs in the five-set victory 

  • On Friday, LBSU swept Portland in a speedy 75-minute match with Agi posting three kills, two assists, two aces and eight digs. 

  • In Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Idaho State, the outside hitter capped the weekend with 24 kills and 15 digs while also adding four assists and ace and a solo block.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Paige Sentes, CSUN | Junior • Libero • Bakersfield, Calif.
  • 8012CSUN libero Paige Sentes helped the Matadors to their best non-conference record since 2014 to scoop up a second Big West Defensive Player of the Week accolade of the season.  

  • Sentes recorded 49 total digs, or 6.13 per set, as CSUN defeated San Francisco and San Jose State to earn the USF Challenge title.  

  • The Bakersfield, Calif., native had 26 digs, three aces and four assists in Thursday’s 3-1 win over the Dons before posting 23 digs, one ace and six assists in the four-setter against San Jose State. The Matadors stand at 7-4 after the non-conference segment.

  • The junior is leading The Big West in digs per set at 4.81, good for 23rd in the country.

Setter of the Week 
Madi Maxwell, Long Beach State | Sophomore • Setter • Newhall, Calif.
  • 8042Madi Maxwell directed the Long Beach State offense to a 3-0 week to earn a first career Big West Setter of the Week award. The sophomore was twice named Freshman of the Week during the 2024 campaign.  

  • Maxwell played all 13 sets, averaging 11.46 assists, 2.15 digs, 1.92 points and 1.08 kills to go along with seven blocks and seven aces en route to the UniWyo Invite title. 

  • In the come from behind 3-2 victory against the host Cowgirls to open the weekend, Maxwell recorded a double-double of 56 assists and 10 digs along with three blocks and four kills.  

  • In Thursday’s sweep of Portland, the sophomore from Newhall, Calif., put up a career-high four service aces while tallying 36 assists and five digs. 

  • In the tournament finale, Maxwell registered a career-high 57 assists to go along with 13 digs for a second double-double of the weekend as the Beach took down Idaho State in five. Maxwell also recorded a career-high in kills with seven to go along with three aces and three blocks against the Bengals. 

  • Maxwell closes the non-conference slate second in The Big West in assists average with 9.60 per set.

Freshman of the Week 
Jessica Bates, UC Irvine | Redshirt Freshman • Setter • San Clemente, Calif.
  • 8136UC Irvine setter Jessica Bates put up a second triple-double of the season to earn Big West Freshman of the Week honors. This marks a first career weekly award.  

  • In an emotional match at Lipscomb to start the weekend, Bates recorded  a team-high eight kills to go with nine assists, seven digs, two blocks and an ace in the loss. Coming back from an injury which prevents Bates from playing back-to-back days, the redshirt freshman didn’t see action versus Vanderbilt. 

  • The product of San Clemente, Calif., hit .412 (19-5-34) with a career-best 19 kills, 14 assists and 12 digs to go along with four blocks and two aces in a 3-1 win at Belmont to round out the non-conference schedule. Bates is the lone Big West player to record a triple-double thus far this season and is the first league player with multiples since 2023 (Carisa Barron, CSUN).

  • For the week, Bates averaged 3.86 kills on .364 hitting (27-7-55) with 3.29 assists and 2.71 digs per set to go along with six blocks and three aces on the trip to Nashville.
