Offensive Player of the Week Edward Castro, UC Riverside | Graduate • Forward • Los Angeles, Calif.

• Edward Castro amassed one goal and one assist in a UC Riverside win to earn The Big West Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award. It is the first career weekly honor for Castro.

• The forward tallied one goal and one assist in 63 minutes in a 2-0 victory against San Diego State, Monday.

• UC Riverside is currently 2-2-1 to start the 2025 season. Castro has five goals and six assists in three seasons as a Highlander.

Defensive Player of the Week Joe O’Shaughnessy, UC Irvine | Sophomore • Goalkeeper • Warrington, England

• UC Irvine goalkeeper Joe O’Shaughnessy recorded two shutouts in two victories for The Big West Defensive Player of the Week award. It is O’Shaugnessy’s first career weekly honor.

• The sophomore recorded four saves in the Anteaters’ 1-0 win over Cornell, Monday.

• O’Shaughnessy saved one shot as UC Irvine defeated Yale, 1-0, at home, Friday.

• UC Irvine remains unbeaten with a 5-0-1 record to begin the year. O’Shaughnessy has compiled five shutouts and 12 saves so far.

Freshman of the Week Gustavo Gonzalez, UC Irvine | Freshman • Defender • Santa Ana, Calif.

• UC Irvine freshman Gustavo Gonzalez scored a goal and contributed in two shutouts to secure The Big West Men's Soccer Freshman of the Week award. It is Gonzalez’s first career weekly honor.

• The defender played a full 90 minutes and contributed on the defensive end in UC Irvine’s 1-0 shutout win over Cornell, Monday.

• The Santa Ana, Calif. scored the eventual game-winner in the 13th minute aginst Yale, Friday.
