UCSD School Record-Setter McCluskey Joined by King of LBSU and CSUN Duo Sentes and Kolar for Season's First Women's Volleyball Awards

Offensive Player of the Week 
Molly McCluskey, UC San Diego | Sophomore • Opposite Hitter • Costa Mesa, Calif.
  • 8138UC San Diego sophomore Molly McCluskey claimed the season’s first Big West Offensive Player of the Week honor after a record-setting weekend in La Jolla, Calif.  

  • The opposite hitter recorded UCSD’s single-match record in Division I competition on Sunday with 33 points against Northwestern. The 29-kill outing was good for a career high, two shy from another Triton program best. 

  • The product of Costa Mesa, Calif., opened the season with back-to-back double-doubles with 16 kills and 11 digs in a sweep of Eastern Washington on Friday. Hitting .682 in the match (16-1-22), McCluskey notched UCSD’s single-match benchmark.  

  • McCluskey added 11 kills and 10 digs in a four-setter against New Mexico on Saturday.  

  •  The opposite hitter averaged 5.82 points, 5.09 kills and 2.64 digs per set to earn honors as a member of the UC San Diego Invitational All-Tournament Team.  

  • The Big West weekly nod is a first career offensive honor and fourth overall after claiming freshman honors three times in 2024.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Paige Sentes, CSUN | Junior • Libero • Bakersfield, Calif.
  • 8012CSUN junior Paige Sentes guided the Matadors to a three-win weekend to open the season and claim Big West Defensive Player of the Week. The award is a first career defensive nod and second overall after earning one freshman selection in 2023.  

  • The libero earned Ridge Invitational All-Tournament honors after leading all players with 63 digs over 13 sets. Sentes did not record less than 19 digs in either of CSUN's three matches, while scooping up a season-high 23 digs in the Matadors' 3-1 win over CBU to cap the event.  

  • For the weekend, the Bakersfield, Calif., native averaged 4.85 digs per set while also adding three aces and 15 assists in wins against Idaho State, Pacific and the Lancers.

Setter of the Week 
Katie Kolar, CSUN | Junior • Setter • Norman, Okla.
  • CSUN’s Katie Kolar directed the Matadors’ offense in a trio victories to open the 2025 campaign and claim a third career Big West Setter of the Week award.  

  • The junior setter handed out 123 assists over 13 sets to average 9.46 assists per set. 

  • Kolar had a double-double with 48 assists and 11 digs, along with seven kills and three aces, as the Matadors pulled off a reverse sweep over Idaho State in the season opener to highlight the week. 

  • The native of Norman, Okla., added 38 assists to go along with four blocks in a four-set win over Pacific and finished the Ridge Invitational with 37 assists and nine digs in a win over future Big West foe California Baptist.

Freshman of the Week 
Logan King, Long Beach State | Redshirt Freshman • Opposite Hitter • Newmarket, Ontario, Canada
  • 8042Coming off a summer spent with Canada's U21 national team, Logan King’s collegiate debut for Long Beach State resulted in Big West Freshman of the Wek honors.  

  • The native of Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, helped the Beach split with week against No. 6 Stanford and Oregon State, averaging 5.14 points, 4.29 kills and 1.86 digs while hitting .304.  

  • Against the Cardinal, King posted 13 kills and nine digs with four block assists and two service aces. Leading LBSU to a sweep of Oregon State, the opposite hitter recorded 17 kills and a .419 hitting percentage (17-4-31) while adding four digs and two blocks against the Beavers.
