CLEVELAND – For the first time since inception, UC Santa Barbara has captured the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) All-Sports Trophy. Now in its 25th year, the Division I-AAA ADA consists of the 98 NCAA Division I institutions that do not sponsor football.
The Gauchos tallied 235.0 total points for the 21 sports that are counted toward the standings. Joining UCSB to round out the top five point-getters are Pepperdine (212.0 points), Providence (202.5), Creighton (198.0) and Denver (174.5).
Since its inception after the 2004-05 season, UCSB is just the second Big West member-institution to claim the DI-AAA ADA All-Sports Trophy, joining 2006-07 winner UC Irvine in distinction. Denver and Pepperdine are the only two programs to receive top honors in the history of the award.
The DI-AAA ADA All-Sports Trophy is awarded to the institution that has the highest point total in all sports in which at least 25 percent of the eligible I-AAA membership sponsor the given sport. The 21 countable sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor track & field, outdoor track & field and women's volleyball.
"On behalf of our Association, I would like to congratulate UC Santa Barbara for capturing its first-ever DI-AAA All-Sports championship this year," said Shaney Fink, DI-AAA ADA president and current vice president for athletics at Seattle University. "In addition, our congratulations also go out to the 2024-25 All-Sports winning institutions."
Annual recognition is provided to member institutions that finish the highest in their sports’ NCAA postseason championship in those same 21 sports.
The Big West boasts four current member institutions and one future member with an individual sport trophy garnered in 2024-25. CSUN was the top finisher in the DI-AAA ADA in men’s indoor track & field with UC Irvine one of four baseball programs to receive distinction. Cal State Fullerton women’s golf and UCSB’s softball, women’s tennis and men’s outdoor track & field landing atop the standings in their respective sports. Additionally, California Baptist men’s cross country was recognized for honors.
