Sweeping Weekend for LBSU's Gementera and Haganah Earns Season's Fourth Big West Pairs Team of the Week Award

Malia Gementera (Jr., Chula Vista, Calif.) and Taylor Hagenah (Jr., Oceanside, Calif.) | Long Beach State

  • 8042After a 4-0 week at the Best in the West Tournament, junior duo Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah have claimed a fourth Big West Pairs Team of the Week award of 2025, and a seventh career nod.  

  • Gementera and Hagenah were perfect in Laguna Beach, never dropping a set against top national competition from Court 1 for Long Beach State.  

  • The duo was the first duel point on the board for LBSU in a close 3-2 loss against No. 4 Stanford on Saturday, and opened up the scoring in Saturday’s 3-2 update over No. 6 Cal Poly. 

  • As a team, the Beach went 3-1 on the weekend with victorious efforts against No. 14 Stetson and No. 16 North Florida along with downing their league foes from Cal Poly.
