SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- No. 1 seed UC Santa Barbara (15-8) cruised past No. 4 seed Long Beach State (16-6) 4-0 in the semifinals of the 2025 Big West Women's Tennis Championship, Saturday at the Barnes Tennis Center.
The Gauchos advance to the championship match against No. 2 seed Cal Poly on Sunday, April 27 at 11 a.m. PT. UCSB will vie for its third title in five years.
UC Santa Barbara got the doubles point in dominant fashion. Lucy Lu and Lily Pradkin (UCSB) blanked Johanna Hiesmair and Thea Jagare (LBSU) 6-0 at the No. 2 spot and Raphaelle Leroux and Marie Weissheim (UCSB) bested Daria Malescu and Diana De Simone (LBSU) 6-1 at court No. 3.
Three straight set victories in singles got the win for the Gauchos. Weissheim prevailed over Cecilia Costa in the No. 2 match 6-3, 6-1. Emma Tutoveanu defeated Pamela Badillo 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 5 position. In No. 4 singles, Leroux earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Malaescu 6-2, 6-4.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- No. 2 seed Cal Poly (15-8) earned a gutsy win over No. 3 seed Hawai’i (10-8) 4-2 in the semifinals of the 2025 Big West Women's Tennis Championship, Saturday at the Barnes Tennis Center.
The Mustangs advance to the championship match against No. 1 seed UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, April 27 at 11 a.m. PT. It is the fifth consecutive time that Cal Poly has made it to the title match of The Big West Championship.
Cal Poly got a pair of 6-2 victories in doubles to go up 1-0. Natalie Lynch and Jessica MacCallum (CP) bested Hannah Galindo and Makeilah Nepomuceno (UH) at the No. 3 slot and Kennedy Buntrock and Romane Mosse (CP) topped Sheena Masuda and Peppi Ramstedt (UH) at the top flight.
Hawai’i evened the score at 1-1 thanks to a 6-2, 6-2 victory from Emma Forgac over Alexandra Ozerets at the No. 4 spot. The Mustangs went up 3-1 as Lynch defeated Masuda 6-1, 6-3 at court No. 6 and MacCallum prevailed over Nepomuceno 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 5 position. Ana Vilcek gave back a point to Hawai’i with a 7-5, 6-1 decision over Buntrock at No. 1 singles. Mosse clinched the team victory with a 6-3, 6-4 performance at the battle of No. 3.
