Zara Wasserman highlighted UC San Diego in the team's first conference sweep of the season over Cal Poly to claim the Big West Field Player of the Week award for the first time of the sophomore's career. 

The infielder went 6-for-10 over the course of three games while recording three doubles and 9 RBI.  

Wasserman made the biggest impact during the series finale hitting a pair of doubles and sending home five Tritons home for a 9-8 UCSD win in comeback fashion. The sophomore was also perfect in the field.

After recording a trio of hits for extra bases, the San Marcos, Calif. native now ranks fourth overall in conference play with six doubles.  

Leanna Garcia left UC Davis scoreless in three appearances en route to earning Big West Pitcher of the Week accolades for the first time this season. Last year, Garcia earned Big West Freshman of the Week on May 13, 2024.   

The pitcher went 2-0 this weekend and did not allow a single run to cross the plate in 13.0 innings of work.  

Garcia came in clutch after recording eight sit downs in relief during CSF's 4-3 (12 inn.). and threw seven more strikeouts in a convincing 11-0 (5 inn.) victory. Overall, the pitcher posted 17 K's in the series.   

In conference play, Garcia sits atop The Big West leaderboards in opposing batting average (.188) and hits allowed (26) while placing in a tie for second in earned runs allowed at 16.   

Nataly Lozano lands The Big West Freshman of the Week award for a third straight time and fourth this season (March 10, April 7 & 14)  after walking Cal State Fullerton off versus UC Davis to spark a season sweep.     

Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 12th inning, Lozano unloaded the freshman's first hit of the day by picking up an extra base for a double, sending teammate Kate Verhoef home for the game-clinching score, 4-3. Overall, the freshman went 4-for-11 with four RBI, two doubles and a run scored.
