Ranked Win Nets UC Santa Barbara's Gianluca Brunkow Weekly Honor

  • UC Santa Barbara senior Gianluca Brunkow went 3-0 in singles to earn The Big West Men's Tennis Player of the Week honor. It is the senior's fifth career weekly honor, having won the award once earlier this season and three times last year.  
  • On Monday against UC Riverside, Brunkow took care of Justin Lamy in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 at the top flight. UCSB won the team battle, 4-1. 
     
  • The Topanga, Calif. native defeated No. 19 Edward Winter of Pepperdine in comeback fashion, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, in No. 1 singles, Wednesday. The Gauchos won as a team, 4-3. 
  • On Friday at UC San Diego, Brunkow and partner Lucca Liu downed Carson Lee and Diogo Tinoco in No. 2 doubles, 6-2. In singles play, Brunkow prevailed over Lee, 6-3, 7-5. UCSB earned a 4-1 win as a team. 
     
  • Brunkow and Liu defeated the 74th-ranked pair of Andy Nguyen and Noah Zamora of UC Irvine, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles. The No. 1 singles match between Brunkow and Zamora went unfinished. The Gauchos got the team victory over UC Irvine, 4-0.
