Bracket Set for the 2025 Big West Men’s Basketball Championship, Presented by Credit Union 1

The bracket has been set for the 2025 Big West Men’s Basketball Championship, presented by Credit Union 1, held March 12-15 at Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson, Nev. UC San Diego, who claimed the outright Big West regular-season title on Saturday, will earn the top seed. 

In its second year of being an eight-team four-day format, The Big West Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships return to Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson, Nev. for the fourth consecutive year.
 
The Tritons earn the No. 1 seed in their first year of full-fledged Division I membership with an 18-2 league mark (28-4 overall). UCSD defeated UC Davis on the road, 68-57, Saturday night for its 13th straight victory to claim the title outright.
 
UC Irvine takes the No. 2 slot, finishing league play with a 17-3 clip (27-5 overall). The Anteaters closed the regular season winning seven of their last eight contests, including an 88-68 victory at UC Santa Barbara in Saturday’s regular-season finale.
 
UC San Diego and UC Irvine receive double-byes into Friday’s semifinal round.
 
UC Riverside (21-11) and CSUN (22-9) will claim the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively. Both teams went 14-6 in league play, but UCR won the tiebreaker, going 2-0 in head-to-head games against the Matadors to win the tiebreaker and earn the higher seed. UCR won 68-64 in Northridge and 94-79 in Riverside. The two squads will receive first-round byes straight into Thursday’s second round.
 
UC Santa Barbara (19-12, 11-9 BW), UC Davis (15-16, 9-11 BW), Cal Poly (14-18, 8-12 BW) and Cal State Bakersfield (13-18, 8-12 BW) will get things started in Wednesday’s first round as the No. 5-8 seeds, respectively. Cal Poly separated themselves from Cal State Bakersfield with a 2-0 head-to-head record in the regular season. The Mustangs downed the Roadrunners 90-81 in Bakersfield and 98-72 in San Luis Obispo.
 
Fifth-seeded UC Santa Barbara matches up with No. 8 seed Cal State Bakersfield (13-18, 8-12 Big West). The Gauchos won both games during the regular season against the Roadrunners, 78-66 in Santa Barbara and 81-75 in Bakersfield. The winner advances to take on No. 4 seed CSUN in the opener of the second round on Thursday. The advancing team will go onto face top-seeded UC San Diego in Friday’s semifinals.
 
The 6/7 matchup sees sixth-seeded UC Davis (15-16, 9-11 Big West) taking on No. 7 seed Cal Poly (14-18, 8-12 Big West). The Aggies swept the Mustangs in the two teams regular season matchup, 77-66 in Davis and 65-54 in San Luis Obispo. The advancing squad gets third-seeded UC Riverside in Thursday’s second round. The winner of that game will go on to face No. 2 seed UC Irvine in Friday’s semifinals.
 
All games from Lee’s Fmaily Forum will be seen on ESPN Networks, with the first and second round contests on ESPN+. Matt Neverett (play-by-play) and Richie Schueler (analyst) are on the call for the first two days of action. Mike Monaco (play-by-play) and Chris Spatola (analyst) then take over for Friday’s semifinals and Saturday night’s championship tilt.

The second semifinal will again air live on ESPN2 at 8:30 p.m. PT, with the first semifinal airing live on ESPN+ at 6 p.m. PT, and then on tape delay on ESPN2 following the conclusion of the late semi. Saturday’s championship game will be featured on ESPN2 with a 6:30 p.m. PT.

The winner of the 2025 Big West Men’s Basketball Championship, presented by Credit Union 1 earns the league’s automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division I Championship.
 
In 2024, No. 4 seed Long Beach State defeated No. 2 seed UC Davis 74-70 in the title game to win its sixth championship overall.
