Amelia Honer of UC Santa Barbara Earns 15th Career Weekly Accolade

  • UC Santa Barbara senior Amelia Honer went undefeated in doubles and 2-1 in singles, one of them against a ranked opponent, to earn The Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week. It is Honer's 15th career weekly honor, the most in the history of the conference. The Newtown, Pa. native has now won the award thrice this year, four times last season, six times in 2023 and twice in 2022. 
  • The Gaucho senior won in No. 1 singles at No. 38 Stanford, Friday, defeating sixth-ranked Valerie Glozman in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. In No. 1 doubles, the 10th-ranked doubles duo of Honer and Marie Weissheim versus the 27th-ranked pair of Glozman and Connie Ma was unfinished. 
     
  • On Saturday at Cal, Honer and Weissheim swept the Golden Bear duo of Mao Mushika and T.M. Schomburg 6-0 in No. 1 doubles. 
     
  • On Sunday at UC Davis, Honer paired up with Lucy Lu to defeat Daisy Manupau and Mika Ikemori 6-2 in No. 1 doubles. Honer downed Ikemori in No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-1. UCSB won the team competition 6-1. 
     
  • Honer is currently 8-1 in singles on the year, all in the No. 1 position, and ranked 11th in the latest ITA National Rankings.
