UC San Diego's Carson Lee Earns Player of the Week Honor After Unbeaten Week in Singles Play

  • UC San Diego's Carson Lee went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles matches to earn The Big West Men's Tennis Player of the Week. It is Lee's first career weekly honor.
     
  • On Thursday, the Fullerton, Calif. native paired with Diogo Tinoco to take down Thomas Wakefield and Cooper Gordon of Villanova 6-2 and helped the Tritons get the doubles point. Lee then defeated Gordon in No. 1 singles in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. UC San Diego won the team competition 6-1. 
     
  • On Sunday, the Tritons downed Cal Poly 4-0. Lee defeated Bastiaan Weststrate 6-3, 6-3 at the top flight. 
     
  • On Monday, Lee and Tinoco defeated Ryan Torres and Ivan Savkin of UC Davis 6-3 in doubles. At No. 1 singles, Lee prevailed over Torres 6-2, 7-5. 
     
  • UC San Diego is 4-5 on the year and 1-1 in conference play. Lee is 5-3 in singles, all at the No. 1 position.
