Offensive Player of the Week
Louis Sakanoko, Hawai'i | Sophomore • Opposite Hitter • Paris, France
  • 8036After helping Hawai’i to a two-match series sweep of UC San Diego, sophomore Louis Sakanoko has been named Big West Offensive Player of the Week. This is Sakanoko’s first weekly award of the season, and fifth overall after picking up freshman honors four times in 2024. 

  • The outside hitter averaged 4.00 kills and 4.64 points in the pair of home matches, hitting .412 in the series (28-7-51) to go along with 1.71 digs per set. 

  • In Friday’s opener, Sakanoko compiled 13 kills on .409 hitting with seven digs and an ace in the sweep. 

  • In the rematch on Saturday, the native of Paris, France, recorded a team-best and season-high 15 kills, hitting .414 with five digs, four blocks, and an ace.  

  • Sakanoko was the only UH player with double-digit kills in both matches over the weekend.

Defensive Player of the Week
Josh Aruya, UC Santa Barbara | Sophomore • Middle Blocker • Mission Viejo, Calif.
  • 8134After a stout presence at the net in a trio of UC Santa Barbara victories, Josh Aruya has been tapped Big West Defensive Player of the Week. This is a first career weekly award for the sophomore.  

  • On Tuesday against Cal Lutheran, Aruya finished with a season-high seven blocks (one solo, six block assists) and six digs with eight kills on nine swings with no errors to hit .889 in the five-setter.  

  • In the nailbiter win at No. 8 CSUN on Friday, the middle blocker paced the team with six blocks, including one that gave the Gauchos their clinching point in a 31-29 fourth set win.  

  • In Saturday’s rematch against the Matadors, the product of Mission Viejo, Calif., had four blocks and seven kills on another errorless outing (7-0-8).

Setter of the Week
Tread Rosenthal, Hawai'i | Sophomore • Setter • Austin, Texas
  • Tread Rosenthal of Hawai’i picked up a fifth Big West Setter of the Week award on the season after leading the Rainbow Warriors to a pair of wins against No. 11 UC San Diego.  

  • The sophomore from Austin, Texas, averaged 10.57 assists per set and led UH to a team hitting percentage of .360 in a two-match series sweep, also adding a team-best 1.86 digs per set along with 1.00 kills per set on .462 hitting (7-1-13). 

  • Rosenthal dished out 33 assists with three kills, one ace, six digs and three blocks in the series-opening sweep on Friday.  

  • In Saturday’s rematch, Rosenthal tallied 41 assists with four kills and a team-best seven digs while directing an offense that hit .390 in a four-set victory. 

  • Roenthal leads The Big West and is second in the country in assists average at 10.98 and Hawai’i is hitting .359 on the year, good for sixth in national collegiate volleyball.

Freshman of the Week
Riggs Guy, UC Santa Barbara | Freshman • Outside Hitter • Newport Beach, Calif.
  • UC Santa Barbara’s Riggs Guy was instrumental in the Gauchos' perfect 3-0 week to claim Big West Freshman of the Week for a first career weekly award. 

  • On Tuesday against Cal Lutheran, the outside hitter recorded the fifth set-clinching kill as part of a 5-1-7 (.571) night, playing half the match.  

  • At No. 8 CSUN on Friday, Guy's 17 kills lead all Gauchos in the five-set upset, to go along with an ace, four blocks and five digs. In the fifth set, Guy came up clutch, winning five of UCSB’s final nine points, including the clincher.  

  • In Saturday’s rematch, the Newport Beach, Calif., native again led the team with 14 kills alongside seven digs and an ace in the four-set victory.
