A Pair of Hawai'i Sweeps on the Court Results in Sweep of Big West Men's Volleyball Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Kristian Titriyski, Hawai'i | Freshman • Outside Hitter • Sofia, Bulgaria
  • Hawai’i freshman Kristian Titriyski led the Rainbow Warriors to a two-match sweep of UC Irvine to open league play and claim Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time of the season (Feb. 10). 

  • Titriyski averaged 6.0 kills and 7.0 points along with 1.5 digs and 1.0 blocks per set with three service aces in the weekend on O’ahu. 

  • The native of Sofia, Bulgaria, began the week with match-high 17 kills, two aces, three digs, and two blocks on Friday. 

  • Sunday, Titriyski tallied a match-high 19 kills on an impressive .571 hitting effort (19-3-28) with one ace, six digs, and four blocks as the Rainbow Warriors took both matches from the Anteaters in the top 5 showdown. 

  • The freshman is in the Top 10 in national collegiate volleyball in a trio of categories, including  average kills (4.20 - 6th), points (5.13 - 4th) and aces (0.540 - 7th).

Defensive Player of the Week
'Eleu Choy, Hawai'i | Senior • Libero • Honolulu
  • Hawai’i senior ‘Eleu Choy earned consecutive nods as Big West Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the Rainbow Warriors in a pair of conference-opening sweeps against UC Irvine. 

  • The libero from Honolulu averaged 3.17 digs per set in the two-match series, with match highs on both nights. 

  • Friday, Choy popped up 10 digs and sported a .933 reception percentage while adding a pair of assists to the score sheet. Sunday saw a match-best nine digs for Choy in the sweep. 

  • Choy bumped the season average to 1.75 digs per set to stand in fourth in The Big West.

Setter of the Week
Tread Rosenthal, Hawai'i | Sophomore • Setter • Austin, Texas
  • After sweeping through UC Irvine in a pair of matches, Tread Rosenthal has been named Big West Setter of the Week for a third time this season. Rosenthal opened the year with honors back on Jan. 6, and also claimed the award last week, on Feb. 24.  

  • The sophomore averaged 11.50 assists per set while directing the offense to hit a combined .374 in the series. Rosenthal also averaged 1.33 digs and 0.67 blocks per set and served up three aces against the Anteaters.  

  • Friday, Rosenthal finished with 36 assists to go along with four kills, three digs and two blocks.  

  • The Austin, Texas product tallied 36 assists with five digs, two blocks and two aces in Saturday’s win, where UH hit .384 as a team.  

  • Rosenthal leads The Big West and is second nationally in assists per set with a 10.96 average.

Freshman of the Week

  • Titriyski averaged 6.0 kills and 7.0 points along with 1.5 digs and 1.0 blocks per set with three service aces in the weekend on O’ahu. 

  • The native of Sofia, Bulgaria, began the week with match-high 17 kills, two aces, three digs, and two blocks on Friday.
