Malia Gementera (Jr., Chula Vista, Calif.) and Taylor Hagenah (Jr., Oceanside, Calif.) | Long Beach State

  • 8042Long Beach State No. 1 pairing Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah opened the 2025 season as Big West Beach Volleyball Pairs Team of the Week. The award is a fourth career nod for the duo (March 20 & April 17, 2023; March 18, 2024).  

  • In the first match of the day at The Battle for LA, the pair was the clinching point in the team’s first win over ninth-ranked California since 2016. Gementera and Hagenah took down Emma Donley and Portia Sherman, 21-16, 21-15 as the Beach earned the 3-2 team win.  

  • In the second match of the day against host Pepperdine, Gementera and Hagenah were victorious over Kate Clermont and McKenna Thomas, 21-12, 21-10 as the team won the match 4-1.  

  • Both players were able to grab a block against the Waves and hit over .400 on the day to round out their efforts on both offense and defense.
