Cal State Fullerton's Cristina Jones Collects First Career Big West Player of the Week Award

  • 27265After helping the Titans eclipse the 100-point mark, Cal State Fullerton sophomore Cristina Jones picked up a first career Big West Player of the Week honor. The award is a first for a Cal State Fullerton player since Dec. 18, 2023 (Gabi Vidmar).  

  • The sophomore led the Titans in their record-breaking 110-22 win yesterday, scoring a career-high 25 points on 85 percent shooting from the floor (11-for-13).   

  • The forward from Long Beach, Calif., also hauled in eight rebounds and tallied five steals and three assists in just 17 minutes of work.  

  • The Titans broke a 34-year-old program record with the most points scored in a game (110) along with a 35-year-old team record with the most steals in a game (28) with the Titans’ stifling defense also allowing the Golden Eagles to score just 22 points. The last time the Cal State Fullerton held an opponent under the 22-point threshhold was back in 1975. 

  • Jones currently is shooting 48.9 percent from the floor, averages 14.8 points per game to rank seventh in The Big West and 3.73 steals per game to lead the league. The steals average stands in ninth in the NCAA Division I women’s basketball.
