Light and Martinez Repeat with Gunderson and Arquette Earning a Season's Second Big West Women's Volleyball Weekly Award

Offensive Player of the Week 
Jade Light, UC Davis | Senior • Outside Hitter • Pleasant Grove, Calif.
  • Earning a third weekly award of the season, UC Davis senior Jade Light secured consecutive nods as Big West Offensive Player of the Week.  

  • The outside hitter helped the Aggies to their program-tying 13th conference win while becoming the first team to capture a berth in bracket for The Hawaiian Islands presents the 2025 Outrigger Big West Women’s Volleyball Championship.  

  • In the sweep at UC Irvine on Friday afternoon, Light led the team with 13 kills while popping up a season-high 20 digs for an eighth double-double of the year.  

  • Saturday at Cal State Fullerton, the native of Sloughouse, Calif., powered down 18 kills with seven digs and three blocks.  

  • With the strong weekend, Light upped the season averages to 4.05 kills and 4.55 points per set as both marks lead The Big West.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Bri Gunderson, Hawai'i | Senior • Middle Blocker • Ladera Ranch, Calif.
  • Hawai’i senior Bri Gunderson held down the net in a pair of Rainbow Wahine wins to secure Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. 

  • The middle blocker from Ladera Ranch, Calif., was in on 13 total blocks and averaged 1.86 blocks per set in home wins over CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield.  

  • On Friday, Gunderson put down six blocks, including a solo stuff, while adding eight kills on 12 swings with no errors (.667) in the sweep of the Matadors.  

  • In Sunday’s contest against the Roadrunners, Gunderson added seven blocks with 12 kills on .526 hitting in the four-set victory.  

  • Gunderson ranks third in The Big West in blocking average at 1.16 per set.

Setter of the Week 
Adrianna Arquette, Hawai'i | Sophomore • Setter • Kailua, O'ahu
  • 8036Directing the Hawai’i team to a pair of wins, sophomore Adrianna Arquette earned Big West Setter of the Week acclaim. This is Arquette’ second career honor, earning distinction back on Sept. 8. 

  • Arquette averaged 10.86 assists per set while turning in a ninth double-double of the season as UH defeated CSUN in three before taking down Cal State Bakersfield in Sunday’s four-set match.  

  • The native of Kailua, O’ahu, dished out 33 assists while directing the ’Bows to a .316 hitting percentage against the Matadors on Friday. 

  • In the match against the Roadrunners, Arquette compiled 43 assists, 14 digs and four blocks while also serving up two aces.  

  • Arquette now ranks fourth in the Big West with 8.68 assists per set.

Freshman of the Week 
Gabi Martinez, UC Santa Barbara | Freshman • Outside Hitter • Katy, Texas
  • 8134UC Santa Barbara first-year player Gabi Martinez helped the Gauchos to a weekend split to go back-to-back for Big West Freshman of the Week honors.  

  • Martinez averaged 5.00 kills and 2.29 digs per set as UCSB fell to UC San Diego in three before the team upended Long Beach State in four on Saturday.

  • Martinez had 17 kills against the Tritons, hitting .344 in the match.

  • The freshman from Katy, Texas, then powered down 18 kills with 12 digs against the Beach as the Gauchos climbed into a tie for third in The Big West standings.
