Offensive Player of the Week  Roberto Ordonez, Cal State Fullerton | Senior • Midfielder • McAllen, Texas

• Roberto Ordonez posted a multi-goal performance in the first half against UNLV in a 4-2 victory to secure The Big West Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award. This is the fourth weekly distinction of the senior's career and the first of 2024. (Sept. 18, 25, Oct. 2, 2023).  

• The midfielder found the back of the net twice in the first 45 minutes (16:58 | 29:07) of the match to come away with a brace. The two goals accounted for the game-tying and go-ahead score during the 4-2 triumph in Las Vegas, Nev. 

• Currently, Ordonez sits atop The Big West in points (19) with six goals and seven assists. The seven assists are tied for second overall in the nation.

Defensive Player of the Week  Nick McCune, Cal Poly | Junior • Goalkeeper • San Ramon, Calif.

• Goalkeeper Nicky McCune recorded another clean sheet in Cal Poly's huge win over No. 13 UC Santa Barbara in the Blue-Green Rivalry to take home The Big West Defensive Player of the Week award. This is the second weekly distinction of McCune's collegiate career (Sept. 9, 2024).   

• Cal Poly battled No. 13 UCSB to a 2-0 decision last week. This was the first time since 2018 Cal Poly bested UC Santa Barbara. The matchup featured 9,657 fans and accounted as the largest crowd for a soccer match in the nation thus far in 2024.  

• During the shutout victory, McCune collected a lone save while only allowing four shots en route to securing the junior's third shutout in the last five matches. The San Ramon, Calif. Native has only let up one score in the last 446 minutes in net.    

• McCune's GAA now stands at 0.893, second amongst all goalies in The Big West.

Freshman of the Week  Sean Battistessa, Sacramento State | Freshman • Defender/Midfielder • Fair Oaks, Calif.

• For the first time in the freshman's career, Sean Battistessa of Sacramento State has been named The Big West Freshman of the Week. This is the third straight Hornet to claim the Freshman accolade this season.    

• Battistessa's first career goal came at a crucial time during the 58th minute to secure a 1-1 draw at Portland to close non-conference action.

• The Fair Oaks product became one of eight Hornets to notch their first career point this year and the sixth different player to score a goal in 2024. 

• Battistessa has logged 374 minutes this season in the midfield and defender positions. Sacramento State currently stands with a 3-4-2 overall record awaiting conference play this week.
