Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Tony Chavez, Cal State Fullerton | Senior • Corona, Calif.

• Cal State Fullerton's Tony Chavez placed third individually and helped lead the Titans' men's squad to a second-place finish at the Mark Covert Classic to earn The Big West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week award. It is Chavez's first career weekly honor. 

• The Corona, Calif. native raced a personal-best 24:16.7 in the men's 8k at the Mark Covert Classic on Saturday. 

• Chavez's time is the fastest so far this season among Big West runners in the 8k.

Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Marikay Schwab, Long Beach State | Senior • Huntington Beach, Calif.

• Marikay Schwab won the Pepperdine Waves Invitational, Friday, to claim The Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week award. It is Schwab's first career weekly honor. 

• The senior ran a time of 13:04.0 on the 4k course, two seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

• Schwab's win was the first individual victory by an LBSU women's runner in two seasons.
