Offensive Player of the Week 
Caylen Alexander, Hawai'i | Junior • Outside Hitter • Alpharetta, Ga.
  • 8036Hawai’i outside hitter Caylen Alexander of the Rainbow Wahine put away 61 kills, averaging 4.69 per set, over three matches on the road to remain among the nation’s leaders and go back-to-back for Big West Offensive Player of the Week.  

  • The junior opened the road trip with 23 kills against UNLV and put away a match-high 20 in a four-set loss to then-No. 8 Texas, giving her three consecutive matches with at least 20 kills.  

  • In Saturday’s match at No. 20 Baylor, Alexander hit .302 with 18 kills over four sets at Baylor. Alexander also served up a team-high five aces over the week and had 23 digs with double-double performances against UNLV and Baylor.  

  • The Alpharetta, Ga., native continues to lead The Big West with 229 total kills (4.98 per set) and 253.5 points (5.51 per set). The kills average ranks fourth in NCAA Division I with the points average is sixth.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Jessica Dean, UC Riverside | Junior • Libero • San Mateo, Calif.
  • 8135UC Riverside’s Jessica Dean played all 15 sets at the Pelican Invitational over the weekend, to scoop up a first career Big West Defensive Player of the Week award. 

  • Dean recorded 5.0 digs and 1.27 assists per set to earn All-Tournament honors and anchor the Highlanders’ defense in a successful 3-1 weekend. 

  • Dean notched 20 digs, two service aces and nine assists in a 3-1 win over Louisiana Tech on Friday and finished off the Highlanders' trip to New Orleans with 13 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Arkansas Pine Bluff on Saturday. In the Highlander’s lone loss of the weekend, the junior from San Mateo, Calif., popped up a career-best 29 digs in a five-setter at Tulane. 

  • Dean has recorded double-digit digs in eight of UCR’s nine non-conference matches.

Setter of the Week 
Katie Kolar, CSUN | Sophomore • Setter • Norman, Okla.
  • 30415CSUN setter Katie Kolar helped the Matadors to a 3-1 week to earn a second Big West Setter of the Week nod of 2024. Kolar also earned honors on Sept. 2 after the first set of games on the schedule.  

  • The product of Norman, Okla., averaged 10.0 assists per set as CSUN swept through California Baptist before falling in five to Washington State and taking down Portland twice. Kolar also added 13 kills from the setter spot.  

  • In Tuesday’s victory against the Lancers, Kolar finished with 35 assists, eight digs and six kills in the three-set match.  

  • Kolar posted a fifth double-double of the season with 45 assists to go along with 15 digs in Friday’s five-set win over Portland. The sophomore is currently averaging 10.17 assists per set, which rates second in the league.

Freshman of the Week 
Eva Travis, UC Santa Barbara | Redshirt Freshman • Outside Hitter • Aliso Viejo, Calif.
  • 8134After helping UC Santa Barbara to a pair of wins over Power 4 competition, Eva Travis has been named Big West Freshman of the Week, a first career honor. 

  • Travis earned MVP honors at the K-State Invitational after averaging 4.33 kills and 5.17 points per set in sweeps of Kansas State and Oklahoma. 

  • Against the Wildcats, the redshirt freshman outside hitter contributed a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs.  

  • In the sweep of the Sooners, the Aliso, Viejo, Calif., native secured 13 kills complemented by three service aces for the Gauchos.
