Cal Poly alum Taylor Spivey captured the silver medal in the triathlon mixed relay event at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, also known as the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

Spivey, along with teammates Seth Rider, Morgan Pearson and Taylor Knibb clocked a time of 1:25.40 for second place, just shy of first-place Germany and just ahead of third-place Great Britain.

The former Mustang was the second leg and moved USA from 10th place to fifth to fifth in the process with a time of 22:41.

"There are no words to describe it," said Spivey said to USA Triathlon. "I thought at one point we were going to be in bronze and that's actually what they told us when they first crossed the line. But the boys told them to look at the photo finish again, and we were actually lining up to go to the podium and they said 'you know you got silver.’ So, I think we are the happiest silver medal athletes."
Spivey was a member of the Cal Poly swimming team from 2009-14, competing in long-time
"I’m so happy and proud of this team. It’s so special. I knew if we all executed a solid race we could be in the fight for a medal but to actually do it, there are no words to describe it,” Spivey said to USA Triathlon.
