Hawai'i alum
Maartje Keuning was a member of the Netherlands team that won the bronze medal in the women's water polo event at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, also known as the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. The Netherlands defeated USA with a late comeback, scoring the game's final five goals in the bronze medal match.
Keuning played two seasons (2017, 2018) at Hawai'i, and compiled 40 goals and 24 assists during the 2018 season, helping the team to a 21-5 overall record. The former Rainbow Wahine scored five goals in the tournament for the Netherlands, including three in a 15-11 group stage win over China.
Aside from Keuning, there were also six other Big West women's water polo alumni participating in this year's Olympics.
Tara Prentice of UC Irvine was a member of Team USA that finished in fourth.
Elyse Lemay-Lavoie (Hawai'i) and
Marilia Mimides (Long Beach State) were part of the Canadian team that took eighth place.

Camille Radosavljevic (Hawai'i) and
Emma Vernoux (Hawai'i) competed as members of the hosts, France.
