2024 Big West Champion Cal State Fullerton Faces Mississippi State in First Round of NCAA Softball Championship

2024 Big West champion Cal State Fullerton will face Mississippi State in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Softball Championship, on Friday at 4:30 p.m. PT hosted at Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium in Stanford, Calif. The matchup will be streamed on ESPN+. 

Cal State Fullerton is headed north to the Bay Area to play Mississippi State (33-18) in the Stanford Regional on May 17. In the regular season, the Titans fell to the Bulldogs in a tightly contested 4-2 decision on February 24th at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. At the time, Mississippi State was ranked No. 20 in the nation. 

The Titans punched their ticket to the national stage by clinching the 2024 Big West regular season title on the year's final weekend with a series victory (4-1, 10-4) versus Long Beach State. This is the Titans 32nd overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Overall, The Big West champions posted a 22-5 conference record alongside a 36-17 mark.  

The NCAA Championship bracket consists of 64 teams with the top 16 teams seeded and hosting at campus sites beginning Friday. Regionals will be held May 17-19, with each campus site hosting a four-team, double-elimination tournament. The 16 winning teams advance to the super regionals on May 23-26.
