Long Beach State's Rhona Cook Claims Weekly Award

33289• Senior Rhona Cook helped guide Long Beach State to an unblemished record this week (2-0) and extend the overall winning streak to four matches to earn The Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week This is the first weekly distinction of Cook's Big West career.  

• Cook played a crucial role in Long Beach State's win over conference rival Cal State Fullerton with a comeback triumph at No. 1 singles over Josie Usereau, 7-6, 0-6, 6-2. Earlier in the week, Cook earned another victory at No. 1 singles over Brown's top player Ali Benedetto, 6-0, 6-4. During doubles play, the duo of Cook and Peppi Ramstedt made work of Josie Usereau and Sein Myoung of the Titans, 6-0. Against Brown, the same pair grinded out a 6-4 win earlier in the week. 

• Currently, Long Beach State sports a 4-1 record in Big West play with the lone loss to undefeated Hawai'i (5-0). This weekend, the Beach hit the road and take on the likes of Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara.
