UC Santa Barbara sophomore infielder Jazzy Santos stuffed the stat sheet for the Gauchos to claim The Big West Field Player of the Week award. This is the third weekly distinction of Santos' collegiate career, and second this season (April 8, 2024 | April 10, 2023).  

Santos scored seven of UCSB's 16 runs during the Gauchos doubleheader sweep over UC Davis. The Stanton, Calif. Product produced two home runs and took 11 total bases during the series. Santos now leads UC Santa Barbara in jacks with five. 

Long Beach State pitcher Sophia Fernandez tossed a pair of complete games to clinch The Big West Pitcher of the Week accolade. This is the second weekly distinction of Fernandez's collegiate career (March 25th, 2024).  

Fernandez fired a 1.00 ERA in the series against Hawai'i while sitting down 10 batters over the weekend. During LBSU's opening 2-1 victory over the Rainbow Wahine, the senior only allowed one run while striking out six over the course of 7 innings. In the series finale, Fernandez fanned four batters and only allowed six hits in the 3-1 win to clinch the series for the Beach.

Overall, Fernandez has thrown 71 total K's and leads the Beach's bullpen with a 3.11 ERA. Long Beach State currently resides second overall in The Big West with a 16-5 mark in conference play.  

Freshman outfielder/pitcher Ainsley Waddell hit over. 400 for the Gauchos to score The Big West Freshman of the Week award. This is the fourth weekly distinction of Waddell's career collegiate career (Feb. 19, March 18, April 1, 2024).  

Waddell recorded 3 RBI and also scored twice during the Gauchos series versus UC Davis over the weekend. During game one, the San Carlos, Cailf. product produced a double.
