Amelia Honer of UCSB Clinches Consecutive Weekly Honor, Third Award This Season

33421• Junior Amelia Honer claimed six total wins for UC Santa Barbara over the weekend to clinch consecutive Big West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week awards. This is the first 11th weekly distinction of Honer’s career. (March 2, April 27, 2022 | Jan. 25, Feb. 1, March 1, 8 and April 5, 19, 2023 | March 13, April 10, 2024).      

• Honer teamed up with fellow Gaucho Kira Reuter and defeated Grace Gamal/Ella Pachl of UC San Diego, 6-1, Josie Usereau/Sein Myoung of Cal State Fullerton, 6-2, and Emily Fowler/Kayla Meraz of UC Irvine, 6-2. UCSB would win all those matches and are currently riding a six-match streak.  

• During singles action, the Newtown, Pa. native extended the winning streak at No. 1 singles to 11 with 6-1, 4-3, and 7-0 triumphs. Honer also picked up the 125th win of the junior’s career this weekend. Currently, UC Santa Barbara resides in first place in The Big West with an undefeated 6-0 record and 11-7 overall mark. The Gauchos will compete in The 2024 Big West Women’s Tennis Championship on April 24-April 27 in San Diego, Calif. At the Barnes Tennis Center.
