Amelia Honer of UC Santa Barbara Adds 10th Weekly Award to Resume

33350• Junior Amelia Honer of UC Santa Barbara orchestrated another perfect week in singles and doubles play to bring home The Big West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season. This is the first tenth weekly distinction of Honer’s career. (March 2, April 27, 2022 | Jan. 25, Feb. 1, March 1, 8 and April 5, 19, 2023 | March 13, 2024).    

• Honer helped knock off the 2023 defending Big West Champion Hawai’i by dominating in both doubles and singles play. The Newtown, Pa. Product partnered with Kira Reuter who recorded a 6-2 triumph in doubles. From there the No. 48th player picked up 6-1 singles win over Ana Vilcek of Hawai’i at the No. 1 spot.  

• Against Long Beach State, the duo of Honer and Reuter would boast another 6-2 victory in doubles play. Honer remained dominant at No. 1 singles and bested Rhona Cook of the Beach, 6-1. The Gauchos are now the lone undefeated team in The Big West with an unblemished record of 3-0. UCSB has six conference matches remaining on it's schedules before competing in the 2024 Big West Women's Tennis Championship on April 24th-April 27th in San Diego, Calif.
