UC Santa Barbara’s Pablo Masjuan Produces Ranked Win to Earn Weekly Honor

33346 Pablo Masjuan of UC Santa Babrbara completed a comeback win versus the No. 75 player to claim The Big West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week award. This is the fourth weekly distinction of Masjuan’s collegiate career (March 29, April 5, 2023 | March 20, 2024).           

• During the Gaucho’s lone match of the week, Masjuan downed Ryder Jackson of Cal in three sets. The Madrid, Spain native dropped a hard-fought match (5-7) before roaring back win the second set, 6-3. From there, Masjuan managed to complete the comeback by posting another 6-3 score and sat down the No. 75 player in the nation. In doubles play, the No. 46 doubles pairing of Masjuan and Gianluca Brunkow led 5-4 before the match would go unfinished. 

• Currently, UC Santa Barbara sits 1-0 in Big West play alongside a 9-6 overall record. The Gauchos are scheduled to play five Big West matches in 10 days before wrapping up conference play and competing in the 2024 Big West Men’s Championship on April 26-28 in San Diego, Calif.
