• Hawai’i junior Nikola Homolkova won a combined 5-of-6 matches competing in a nationally ranked matchup and led an upset over a top-50 player this week to claim The Big West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week award. This is the second weekly distinction of Homolkova’s collegiate career (March 29, 2023).
• The Pelhrimov, Czech Republic native did not drop a set during all three of the junior’s singles matches this week (Def. Natalie Duffy of Cal State Fullerton, 6-4, 6-4), (Def. Doga Akyurek of Long Beach State, 7-5, 6-3. Homolkova’s highlight of the week came when Hawai’i hosted No. 3 Michigan, and the junior knocked off the No. 46 overall player, Gala Mesochoritou of the Wolverines, 6-3, 6-3. Homolkova tallied the lone point for the Rainbow Wahine in the 1-4 setback.
• In their lone doubles loss this week, The Beach's Rhona Cook and Peppi Ramstedt edged the UH pair that finished in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (9-7). Prior to the setback, the pairing of Homolkova and UH teammate Ana Vilcek recorded two stifling 6-1 triumphs versus Big West foes Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State. Currently, Hawai’i is 5-5 overall and boats the best record of the unbeatens in conference play at an unblemished 4-0.
