Hawai’i Freshman Nelly Knezkova Secures First Weekly Honor of Career

33157• First-year player Nelly Knezkova of Hawai'i has been named The Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week following an impressive week for the Rainbow Wahine. This is the first weekly distinction of Knezkova's collegiate career. 

• Knezkova collected wins in both singles matches this week while splitting the outings in doubles play. Against Illionis State, Prague, Czech Republic native won in straight sets by score of 6-3, 6-3. The following match versus Pacific, Knezkova made the season debut at the No. 1 singles spot while also winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.  

• During doubles, the Rainbow Wahine pair of Knezkova and junior Sheena Masuda powered through an earlier loss in the week and persevered over Pacific's Megan Carmichael and Alexis Sam (6-3) to secure the much-needed point for Hawai'i. Currently, the 'Bows remain unbeaten in Big West play (4-0) while sporting a 6-5 overall record.
