UC Irvine’s Hilir Henno continued to dominate offensively, to claim Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors. The award is the fourth of the season, and seventh career nod.

The junior from Pornichet, France, averaged 5.17 kills and 6.25 points per set in a pair of sweeps over then-No. 19 UC Santa Barbara

Henno had 10 kills, an ace, a dig and three block assists in a quick three-set home win on Wednesday.

On the road at UCSB, Henno pounded 21 kills, while hitting .474 (21-3-38) to go along with three aces, three digs and a solo block

For the week, Henno committed just six errors in 61 attempts, hitting .410 with 31 kills from the pin, and recording double-figure kills in every match this season, including 20 or more eight times

Henno currently leads the country in both kills (4.78) and points (5.55) per set.

Defensive Player of the Week

Long Beach State middle blocker Simon Torwie was unstoppable at the net to take home an eighth career Big West Defensive Player of the Week award. It is Torwie’ second in the last three weeks, also earning honors on March 4.

The senior from Artà, Balearic Islands, Spain, averaged 2.00 blocks per set to go along with 1.50 kills per set on a .500 hitting percentage (12-1-22) in a pair of victories over then-No. 1 Hawai’i.

Torwie started the week with six blocks and six kills, while hitting .750 (6-0-8) in Friday’s sweep.

The next night, Torwie tied a career-high with 10 blocks, while adding six kills on a .357 attack percentage (6-1-14).

Torwie is currently averaging 1.339 blocks per set on the year, good for second in The Big West and third in the nation.

Freshman of the Week

Hawai’i first-year player Louis Sakanoko claimed a second career Big West Freshman of the Week award after a productive week at Long Beach State. Coupled with fellow freshman Tread Rosenthal, UH players have won eight of the 11 weekly freshman awards on the year.

Sakanoko tallied season-highs of 19 kills, nine digs, and three blocks against Long Beach State in Saturday's five-set thriller. Recorded 10 kills in Set 4 in helping the Rainbow Warriors extend the match to a fifth set. Also added one ace and one assist in the match.

The native of Paris, France, was used as a serving sub in Friday's three-set loss to Long Beach State, recording two digs.
