Maya Nakamura of Hawai’i and Two Tritons, India Caldwell and Brooklyn Lee Claim Weekly Awards

 
Field Player of the Week 
Maya Nakamura, Hawai'i |  • Senior • Utility • Honolulu, O'ahu 
  • 25008Senior utility Maya Nakamura of Hawai'i hit big for the Rainbow Wahine this weekend to earn the Big West Field Player of the Week award. This is the second weekly distinction of Nakamura's collegiate career after claiming Big West Freshman of the Week back in 2021 (Apr. 12).  

  • The Honolulu native led the team by hitting at a .444 clip (8-for-16) with six or the senior's eight total hits going for extra bases. Nakamura nabbed two doubles, a triple, and a trio of home runs and 12 RBI this weekend.  

  • Defensively, Nakamura was stellar and second base with 14 assists for a 1.000 fielding %.

Pitcher of the Week
India Caldwell, UC San Diego | Junior • Pitcher • Fallbrook, Calif. 
  • 8138UC San Diego pitcher India Caldwell went a perfect 3-0 during the Tritons three overall victories this week to clinch the Big West Pitcher of the week award. This is the first weekly distinction of Caldwell's collegiate career. 

  • During 21 innings of work, Caldwell contributed 10 strikeouts for the Tritons and only allowed three earned runs on 21 total hits alongside a 1.00 ERA. Opposing batters only hit .259 against the junior right-hander.    

  • Overall, Caldwell has now spun five complete games this season and currently leads the conference in strike outs looking (20), and fourth overall in The Big West in batters struck out swinging (44).

Freshman of the Week 
Brooklyn Lee, UC San Diego | Freshman • Catcher • La Verne, Calif. 
  • 8138Freshman catcher Brooklyn Lee came up big in the Tritons trio of wins to secure The Big West Freshman of the Week award. This is the first weekly distinction of Lee's colligate career.  

  • During the Lance Up Invite, Lee excelled behind the plate with 11 putouts, a lone assist and zero errors on the weekend for UCSD.  

  • The La Verne, Calif. native hit at .500, highlighted by two doubles during the Tritons five contests of the week. Lee is currently riding a four-game hitting streak.
