What 2 Watch 4
The Big West standings have stayed tight throughout league play, but the back-to-back champion has had control of the top line for the last two weeks. Hawai’i (16-9, 13-3 BW) plays host in the penultimate weekend of play, welcoming in fellow tournament teams UC Davis (15-12, 11-6 BW) and UC Riverside (16-11, 11-6 BW). Both the Aggies and Highlanders enter the weekend knotted in third in the standings.

Another game to keep an eye on is a battle between the fifth place teams of UC Santa Barbara (16-10, 10-6 BW) and Cal Poly (14-11, 10-6 BW) in San Luis Obispo. The Mustangs will look to defend their home court in the always intense Blue-Green Rivalry game, after UCSB gutted out the 65-64 overtime win on Jan. 6. Both squads are coming off losses in their last time on the court.

As three teams jockey for the final two spots in the bracket of the 2024 Hercules Tires Big West Women’s Basketball Championship, two of those in contention are set to square off against one another on Thursday. Cal State Fullerton plays host to Long Beach State. The Titans nabbed a 67-61 road victory at Walter Pyramid in their conference opener on Dec. 28, so the Beach are looking for road revenge as they eye the postseason possibilities.

All Big West basketball games are set to air on ESPN+. Check listings for more information and a complete game schedule.

 Last Week, Today
- Four teams clinched their spots to the 2024 Hercules Tires Big West Women's Basketball Championship, but every seed is still up for grabs.

- Hawai’i won their third game in a row after taking down Long Beach State on the road. The Rainbow Wahine got a stellar effort off the bench from Big West Player of the Week Daejah Phillips in the contest. Phillips finished with a career-high 29 points on a fiery 12-of-14 outing from the floor in just 20 minutes of action. UH is currently leading the standings with four games remaining on their schedule.

- Also enjoying a perfect weekend was UC Riverside. The Highlanders cruised to a road win at UC San Diego before some last-second heroics in an overtime home victory over Cal Poly. Big West leading scorer Jordan Webster poured in 23 points with six steals against the Tritons. In Saturday’s thriller against the Mustangs, Esther Matarranz was the high scorer with 16, and Jordyn Marshall provided a layup as time expired in the overtime period, scoring the last five points of the game to seal the comeback.

- UC Davis has put together four consecutive winning efforts, downing CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield at home last week. Evanne Turner matched a season-best 23 points on 9-for-19 shooting in Thursday’s win. Saturday, four players scored in double figures with Tova Sabel and Mazatlan Harris both finishing with 15.

- Cal Poly, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, UC San Diego and Cal State Fullerton each split the weekend. Gracie Gallegos recorded a first collegiate double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in an overtime win at UC Irvine on Saturday. In the Anteaters’ win against Santa Barbara, Deja Lee scored 14 points on 50 percent shooting to lead the team to victory. Contested every year since 1984, the 2024 Hercules Tires Big West Women's Basketball Championship will see eight squads converge on the court at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev., to vie for the title.

In June of 2023, The Big West Board of Directors approved an eight-team field for the 2024 Hercules Tires Big West Women’s Basketball Championship. The eight-team format will automatically advance the top two seeds into the semifinals.

The revamped bracket shortens the event by a day and will run March 13-16 as the top eight eligible women’s and men’s teams compete for conference championships and automatic bids to the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships.
