UC Davis senior pitcher Kenedi Brown tossed a complete game and did not allow a single run during the senior’s nine innings tossed to clinch the Big West Pitcher of the week award. This is the ninth weekly distinction of Brown’s collegiate career (2021: Mar. 8, Apr. 12, 26 | 2022: Feb. 14, 21, Mar. 21 | 2023: Mar. 6, Apr. 3).

The 2023 Big West Pitcher of the Year tossed nine innings and did not allow a single earned run over three games this weekend. During the Aggies sweep over California Baptist, Brown surrendered just four hits over the three days of work while striking out 11 total batters and not allowing any walks.
- Currently, Brown places second in The Big West in ERA (2.22) and fourth in strikeouts (6). The Elk Grove, Calif. native also notched a save during UC Davis’s 5-4 win over California Baptist on Sunday.

Field Player of the Week

Cal Poly sophomore outfielder Kiara Blanchard shined bright for Cal Poly this week to claim The Big West Field Player of the Week award. This is the first weekly distinction of Blanchard’s collegiate career.

Despite a winless week, Blanchard performed well for the Mustangs by putting together nine hits across the teams five contests. The Tracy, Calif. product produced five hits during the first two days of competition at the Mary Nutter Classic against Rutgers and Illinois. On the final day, Blanchard blasted four hits for Cal Poly including three crucial swings against No. 21 Cal. The Mustangs were narrowly edged by the Golden Bears, 3-2, to wrap up Cal Poly’s week at the classic.

Currently, Blanchard sits at a .364 batting average (14th in The Big West) with 16 total strikeouts.

Freshman of the Week

CSUN freshman outfielder Lulu Sanchez slashed .357/.471/.429 and was instrumental during the Matadors league-high 10 game winning streak (snapped over weekend) to secure The Big West Freshman of the Week award. This is the first weekly distinction of Sanchez’s colligate career.

CSUN went 3-2 this week with three triumphs over Dayton (8-7, 9 inn.), Seattle (6-4) and Bethune-Cookman (3-0). During the first outing against Dayton, Sanchez recorded three hits and three RBI notching the game-tying two run single in the seventh and shutting it down with an immaculate walk-off single to seal the deal for CSUN in the ninth inning. During the Marry Nutter Collegiate Classic, Sanchez scored a run against Seattle and hit a double during the Bethune-Cookman contest. The La Mirada, Calif. Native wrapped up the weekend by knocking in another RBI against Rutgers.
- Currently, Sanchez is batting .370 and registering a .469 on-base percentage on the year. CSUN is also the top team in The Big West with an 11-3 overall record.
