UC Irvine Duo of Henno and Power Joined by UC San Diego's Wiemelt For Men's Volleyball Weekly Honors

 
Offensive Player of the Week 
Hilir Henno, UC Irvine | Junior • Outside Hitter • Pornichet, France
  • 8136UC Irvine Hilir Henno led then-No. 7 UC Irvine to a pair of road wins over then-No. 5 Stanford to claim Big West Offensive Player of the Week for the second time of the season. This marks Henno’s fifth career offensive weekly honor. 

  • Henno averaged 6.38 kills, 1.63 digs, 1.25 blocks and 7.50 points per set in two 3-1 victories against the Cardinal 

  • The outside hitter compiled 23 kills on .422 hitting (23-4-45) to go along with three aces, seven digs and five total blocks (1 solo) in Friday’s victorious effort.  

  • In the second contest, Henno was one shy of a career-high with 28 kills, which stands second in the country in kills in a four-set match this year. The native of Pornichet, France, also added six digs and five total blocks, matching a season-high blocking tally in both matches at Stanford. 

  • Following last week’s action, Henno has served 158 career aces, three away from moving into a tie for second all-time at UCI. 

  • Henno leads The Big West – and the NCAA – in points per set, averaging 5.36 per frame on the season. 

  • On Feb. 20, Henno claimed AVCA Men's National Collegiate Player of the Week. This is Henno's second career national weekly award after also earning honors Jan. 9, 2023.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Cole Power, UC Irvine | Graduate Student • Libero • Huntington Beach, Calif.
  • UC Irvine’s Cole Power posted a pair of double-digit dig performances in two wins over then-No. 5 Stanford to scoop up Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors. This is the second career award for Power, who also took home the award Jan. 9, 2023.  

  • The graduate student totaled 10 digs in the first meeting against the Cardinal on Friday, and then had a season-high 13 digs in the next, both 3-1 wins for UCI. For the week, Power averaged 2.88 digs.  

  • The libero from Huntington Beach, Calif., also had five set assists over the eight sets on the court. 

  • Power currently ranked third in The Big West with a 1.78 digs per set average on the year.

Freshman of the Week 
Leo Wiemelt, UC San Diego | Freshman • Middle Blocker • La Grange, Ill.
  • 8138UC San Diego’s Leo Wiemelt helped the Tritons to back-to-back sweeps at LBSU’s Big West/SIAC Crossover Tournament over the weekend to earn Big West Freshman of the Week. 

  • The middle blocker combined to hit .556 and totaled 16.5 points, that included 12 kills, five blocks and two aces.  

  • Against Central State, Weimelt set new career-highs with 9.5 points, seven kills, two aces, and four digs. The product of La Grange, Ill., hit .875 (7-0-9) in that match.  

  • The next day against Edward Waters, Wiemelt logged a career-high four blocks to go along with five kills and a dig.
