UC Riverside Duo Sheridan and Dean Joined by Bullis and Maxwell For Final Big West Women's Volleyball Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week 
Trinity Sheridan, UC Riverside | Sophomore • Opposite Hitter • Crystal Lake, Ill.
  • After ending the regular season on a high note, UC Riverside's Trinity Sheridan picked up The Big West Offensive Player of the Week award for a first career honor.  

  • Sheridan averaged 3.89 kills per set in a 1-1 week for the Highlanders, racking up 35 kills and hitting .301 to conclude a first year in the Inland Empire after transferring from Division II Cal State San Bernardino.  

  • The sophomore from Crystal Lake, Ill., finishes the year as the first Highlander since 2012 to record 360 kills in a season.  

  • Sheridan hit .317 in a five-set thriller against Big West champion Cal Poly on Thursday, tying a match high with 17 kills to go along with eight digs and three blocks.  

  • In Saturday's season finale, Sheridan collected 18 kills while hitting .286 to lead UCR over UC Santa Barbara for the first time in 11 meetings. Sheridan's efforts also helped UCR hit .218 for the match while the Highlanders secured their first 10-win season since 2017.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Jessica Dean, UC Riverside | Junior • Defensive Specialist/Libero • San Mateo, Calif.
  • 8135UC Riverside's Jessica Dean helped the Highlanders to a weekend split to earn the season's final Big West Defensive Player of the Week.   

  • The junior recorded 21 digs with a .941 reception percentage in Thursday's five-set loss to Cal Poly.  

  • Dean then popped up 24 digs, or 6.00 digs per set, with a .938 reception percentage in Saturday's 3-1 win against UC Santa Barbara. The win over the Gauchos was the first time in the last 11 meetings. 

  • For the season, Dean rates third in The Big West with a 3.98 dig per set average.

Setter of the Week 
Emme Bullis, Cal Poly | Redshirt Junior • Setter • Whitewater, Wis.
  • 8038Cal Poly redshirt junior Emme Bullis helped direct the Mustangs to their first Big West regular-season title since 2018 and earned Setter of the Week for the third time this season and the eighth time in a career.  

  • Bullis tallied 40+ assists in both matches last week for 8.90 assists per set in a pair of five-set road wins against UC Riverside and UC Davis.  

  • Whitewater, Wis., native Bullis supplied 44 assists with 11 digs for the double-double against the Highlanders, followed by a 45-assist outing in the season finale to secure the title.   

  • This season, Bullis is averaging 10.27 assists per set, good for second in the league and 37th in NCAA Division I.

Freshman of the Week 
Madi Maxwell, Long Beach State | Freshman • Opposite Hitter • Newhall, Calif.
  • 8042True freshman Madi Maxwell guided Long Beach State to a two-win week to earn a season's second Big West Freshman of the Week to cap the year's weekly awards.  

  • Maxwell led the team with 4.57 kills per set on a .466 hitting percentage (32-5-58), to go along with a team-leading 3.71 digs per set, 0.57 blocks per set, 0.43 aces per set, and 0.29 assists per set as the Beach claimed the No. 4 seed in The Hawaiian Islands presents the 2024 Outrigger Big West Women's Volleyball Championship.  

  • Maxwell started in both matches and led the Beach with 16 kills on a .556 clip (16-1-27) with a career-high 17 digs in a sweep of Cal State Bakersfield on Friday. 

  • Saturday in a four-set win against CSUN, Maxwell hit .367 with 16 kills, nine digs, three blocks and two aces to close the regular season.
