Ethan Shipman helped UC Irvine remain unbeaten in conference play and helped take down a nationally ranked foe to win The Big West Men’s Water Polo Player of the Week for the first time in the sophomore’s career.      

The attacker contributed six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in the Anteaters 14-13 sudden-victory triumph in the eighth period over No. 16 UC Santa Barbara. Shipman scored the game-winner for UCI to push them past the Gauchos.

During UCI’s big 13-12 win over No. 7 Pepperdine, the Fullerton, Calif. native contributed an assist. Shipman sports a team high in assists with 29 total.    

UC Irvine rises to No. 8 in the latest CWPA Poll following the two results. The ‘Eaters are 3-0 in Big West action paired with a 14-7 overall record.
