Damacion, Zamora of UH and Goldstein of UCD Deemed Players of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week 
Fabiola Zamora, Hawai'i | Junior • Forward/Defender • Cupertino, Calif. 
  • 25388Fabiola Zamora's four points on Sunday were pivotal in the Rainbow Wahine's 2-1 result over UC Santa Barbara to secure The Big West Offensive Player of the Week award. This is the first weekly distinction of junior's collegiate career. 

  • Zamora managed to find the game-tying tally in the 68th minute to knot the match at one-all. From there, the junior found the foot of teammate Nalani Damacion in the 83rd minute to record an astounding assist on UH's game-winner.  

  • In the final minute of action, Zamora stepped in front of a shot at the goal line to record a team save and clinch the victory.  

  • With the win over UCSB, Hawai'i has claimed its first Big West regular-season championship in program history. The Rainbow Wahine will host the upcoming 2024 Big West Women's Soccer Championship as its top seed during the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 7 with a TBD start time.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Caeley Goldstein, UC Santa Barbara | Redshirt senior • Goalkeeper • Half Moon Day, Calif. 
  • 8137Caeley Goldstein secured consecutive clean sheets to help UC Davis claim its fourth and fifth Big West wins of the year to earn The Big West Defensive Player of the Week accolade. This is the third weekly distinction of Goldstein's career, but the first of 2024 (Aug. 22, 2022 | Aug. 21, 2023).    

  • UCD went 2-0 last week with Goldstein gathering 17 saves across the two contests. 

  • The Half Moon Bay, Calif. native counted double-digit saves (10) for the second time this season versus UCSB. In the next match at Cal Poly, the goalkeeper stopped seven shots and recorded the seventh shutout of the season for the Aggies.  

  • UC Davis has clinched a berth in the upcoming 2024 Big West Women's Soccer Championship. Goldstein leads all keepers in the conference at 48 saves in league play.

Freshman of the Week 
Nalani Damacion, Hawai'i | Freshman • Midfielder • Rocklin, Calif. 
  • 25388For a record-breaking fifth time in Big West history, Nalani Damacion has been named The Big West Freshman of the Week following another clutch performance. (Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Sept. 23, Oct. 21). 

  • The pride of Rocklin, Calif. converted on yet another game-winning tally, this time an 83rd-minute dagger at UC Santa Barbara, 2-1. No other freshman in the entire nation has amassed more than five game-clinching scores, while five of Damacion's seven total tallies came in the second half (Four in the final 10 minutes.).  

  • Overall, the freshman is now tied for fourth in UH program history in game-winners with only 18 career matches played and has now tied another program best for most GWs in a season (5). Hawai'i has captured the 2024 Big West Women's Soccer regular season championship title and will host the upcoming championship as the No. 1 seed beginning with the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7 with a TBD start time.
