Landon Akerstrom, UC San Diego | Sophomore • Attacker • Costa Mesa, Calif. 

  • 8138Landon Akerstrom put together a seven-point effort this week to be recognized as The Big West Men’s Water Polo Player of the Week award. The honor stands as the first weekly distinction of the sophomore’s career.           

  • During the Tritons Big West opener, Akerstrom accounted for a game-high four tallies while also adding a steal and drawn exclusion. No. 15 UC San Diego was narrowly edged on the road against No. 5 UC Irvine, 12-11.

  • The following contest at No. 16 LMU, the attacker found the back of the net twice along with an assist, two drawn exclusions, and a steal. UCSD downed LMU 10-3, completing the season sweep against the Lions.  

  • The Costa, Mesa, Cailf. product has produced a Triton high 45 goals which also qualifies for first in The Big West. UCSD currently sits at 11-9 overall heading into week 2 of conference play.
