UC San Diego's Pope Earns Second Weekly Award of the Season

  • 25384UC San Diego guard Bryce Pope averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in two wins to earn The Big West Player of the Week award. It is the second this season that Pope has won the weekly honor (Jan. 15) and third instance a Triton has won it (Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones, Nov. 13).

  • The senior shot a combined 47.2 percent (17-of-36) from the field, 40 percent (4-of-10) from behind the arc and 85.7 percent (6-of-7) from the charity stripe in the two victories.

  • The Triton guard scored a team-best 15 points with two rebounds and two steals as UC San Diego earned a 66-65 home victory over UC Riverside.

  • On Saturday, the San Diego native compiled a game-high 29 points, on 11-of-20 shooting, with five rebounds, three assists and a steals in a 92-59 road win over then-first place UC Davis.

  • UC San Diego is currently 14-7 overall and tied for first in The Big West with an 8-1 conference record. Pope is averaging a conference fourth-best 18.6 points per game to go with 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
