Week Two Women's Volleyball Weekly Winners Announced

 
Offensive Player of the Week 
Amber Igiede, Hawai'i | Senior • Middle Blocker • Baton Rouge, La.
  • 8036Senior Amber Igiede reached a career milestone while leading Hawai’i to a pair of wins against USC to claim a second-straight Big West Offensive Player of the Week award. Igiede has now amassed eight career Big West weekly honors, five of which are of the offensive variety.  

  • In Thursday’s five-set win over USC, the middle blocker recorded team-highs with 16 kills, while hitting .367, with eight total blocks, including one solo. Igiede also had seven digs and one service ace to close the match with 21.5 points, the 14th career 20-plus point outing. 

  • On Saturday, Igiede put down a team-best 15 kills with just one error to hit a match-high .609 (15-1-23) in the four-setter. The Baton Rouge, La., native added three service aces, six digs and two blocks in front of 7,282 fans. 

  • Igiede put down her 1,000th career kill in the third set of Saturday’s match. The reigning Big West Player of the Year is the first UH player since McKenna Granto to hit the 1K milestone (2018), and the 21st Rainbow Wahine in program history to record a four-digit career kill tally.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Macall Peed, UC Santa Barbara | Senior • Libero • San Diego, Calif. 
  • 8134UC Santa Barbara senior Macall Peed anchored the Gauchos’ defense in a trio of matches against Pepperdine, No. 9 Oregon and San Diego State to claim Big West Defensive Player of the Week. This marks Peed’s fourth career weekly defensive honor. 

  • Peed finished with double-digit digs in all three matches this week, including a career-high 30-dig match in a 3-2 victory at Pepperdine. The San Diego, Calif., native added 11 assists in the win, recording a first-career double-double.  

  • The libero scooped up 11 balls against the Ducks before recording 19 digs in a road sweep of San Diego State. Through two weeks of action, Peed is leading The Big West with 5.15 digs per set which rates 19th nationally.

Setter of the Week 
Kate Lang, Hawai'i | Junior • Setter • Keller, Texas
  • 8036Kate Lang helped Hawai’i to a pair of home victories over USC to earn back-to-back Big West Setter of the Week distinction.  Lang now owns seven career weekly honors, five of which are for setting. 

  • The junior dished out 91 of the team’s 102 assists through nine sets of action against the Trojans.  

  • On Thursday, Lang compiled 44 assists and finished the match one dig shy of a double-double with nine while serving up three aces and a kill against the Women of Troy. Saturday, Lang notched a second double-double of the season with 47 assists with three errors for a .427 set percentage while scooping up a team-high 13 digs and adding three more aces. 

  • Lang currently leads The Big West with 10.05 assists per set. The native of Keller, Texas, also eclipsed the 500-dig career mark over the weekend, totaling 504 through 62 matches for Hawai’i.

Freshman of the Week 
Nicole Feliciano, UC Irvine | Freshman • Setter • Laguna Niguel, Calif. 
  • 8136UC Irvine first-year player Nicole Feliciano helped direct the UC Irvine offense to a 2-1 record on the week to claim a first career Big West Freshman of the Week award.  

  • Feliciano dished out 25 sets to go along with seven digs, two kills and a block assist at Chicago State in the Windy City Classic. The Laguna Niguel, Calif., native added eight assists and two digs in a Saturday sweep of Jacksonville State.  

  • Feliciano closed out the week with 34 set and nine digs at home against Boston College, to compile averages of 7.44 assists and 2.00 digs per set for the three-match swing.
