Senior Michelle Ohwobete helped UC Santa Barbara to a 3-0 mark on the week to claim Big West Offensive Player of the Week acclaim. This marks Ohwobete's seventh career weekly award, the third of the offensive variety. All previous weekly honors were accumulated in 2021, during Ohwobete's freshman campaign.

The outside hitter finished on the all-tournament team at the Utah Classic with wins against Utah, Tennessee State and San Francisco. Ohwobete averaged 3.15 kills, 2.54 digs and 4.15 points on the weekend.

Ohwobete notched a pair of double-doubles on Friday, finishing with 17 kills and 11 digs to open the tournament in a five-set win over San Francisco. In the late session against the host Utes, Ohwobete added 15 kills and 15 digs in another five-setter.

Saturday, Ohwobete added nine kills, seven digs and five blocks in a tidy 3-0 sweep of Tennessee State to cap the weekend.

Defensive Player of the Week

Jolei Akima continues to lock down the back row defensively for Cal Poly, earning a first-career Big West Defensive Player of the Week honor for the efforts.

The redshirt junior was named to the Dukes Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 5.00 digs per set and posting at least 19 digs in all three matches over the weekend.

Akima opened the tournament with 21 digs, nine assists and two aces in a four-set loss to New Hampshire. The native of Kalahu'u, Hawai'i, capped the event with a 20-dig effort in the five-set victory against VCU. Akima has now posted 20-plus digs in six matches this season.

The libero currently ranks 28th in NCAA Division I averaging 4.97 digs per set, good for second in The Big West.

Setter of the Week

Hawai'i junior Kate Lang again earned The Big West Setter of the Week award, picking up acclaim each of the first three weeks of the season. Dating back to last year, Lang has claimed four consecutive weekly setter recognitions and six since the award begin in 2022.

Lang dished out 127 total assists, or 10.58 per set, with a pair of double-doubles during the OUTRIGGER Volleyball Challenge.

In Thursday's five-set loss to Liberty, Lang issued a season-high 50 assists to go with 12 digs, three blocks and two kills. Lang followed it up with 37 assists with 10 digs in a victorious effort against Pepperdine and capped the weekend with 40 helpers in the tournament finale against UCLA.

Lang leads The Big West in assists per set with a 10.24 average on the season, already adding 338 to a career tally of 2,341 in three seasons for the Rainbow Wahine. Averaging 10.31 career assists per set, Lang ranks 11th among active Division I players.

Freshman of the Week

UC Davis first-year player Reese Diersbock hit .500 for the weekend at the Trojan Invitational to earn a first career weekly nod as Big West Freshman of the Week.

In games against San Diego and Marist on Saturday and Sunday, Diersbock recorded back-to-back games with 14 kills while leading the Aggies to a five-set win over Marist in the tournament finale. Diersbock has now reached double-digit kills in six matches of the season.

In the game against the Red Foxes, Diersbock hit a season best .636 with 14 kills and no errors on 22 swings for UCD. All told, the native of Kailua, Hawai'i averaged 2.53 kills per set in the Southland event.
