• Shannon Haddad fired two complete game shutouts, leading Long Beach State to a 3-0 sweep of UC Riverside, to pick up The Big West Pitcher of the Week distinction. It is the third weekly honor as the conference's top pitcher in Haddad's career, having won it twice in 2021.
• Haddad gave up eight hits and recorded three strikeouts with no walks as Long Beach State defeated the Highlanders 5-0 in the series opener.
• The Simi Valley product gave up two hits for no runs and struck out seven in the 1-0 series finale victory that gave the Beach a sweep over the visiting Highlanders.
• Haddad has a 6-5 record with a 2.34 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 68.2 innings of work so far this season.
• Haddad is Long Beach State’s second Big West Pitcher of the Week in 2023, joining teammate Eryka Gonzalez. Carly Robbins was this year’s first Big West Field Player of the Week on Feb. 13, with Makayla Medellin already a two-time Freshman of the Week.

• UC Santa Barbara junior catcher Ashley Donaldson was nearly perfect from the plate, hitting .889 (8-for-9) with two runs, three RBI and a home run, to receive The Big West Field Player of the Week honor. Donaldson is a first-time weekly honoree.
• The junior went 4-for-4 with one RBI as the Gauchos took the series opener from Hawai'i 5-2.
• Donaldson was perfect from the plate once again in game two, going 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, a home run and walk. It was the catcher's second home run of the season.
• The San Jose native hit 1-for-2 with a walk in the series finale.
• Donaldson is currently leading the conference in batting average, hitting .427 (32-for-75) with 12 runs, 19 RBI and two home runs.

Softball Freshman of the Week

• CSUN rookie hurler Isabella Alonso did not give up a run in 10.1 innings of work to win The Big West Freshman of the Week award. Alonso is a first-time weekly honoree.
• The Cypress product posted an ERA of 0.00 across 10.1 innings pitched, with one strikeout.
• In a 5-0 road victory in the series opener at Cal Poly, Alonso twirled a seven-inning, one-hit shutout while facing one over the minimum of 22 batters with one strikeout. The righty retired the first nine and final 11 batters in order.
• In the series finale, Alonso went 3.2 innings, gave up two hits and did not allow a run. The Matadors defeated the Mustangs 2-1 to take the game and the first series victory at San Luis Obispo since 2016.
• Alonso is currently 4-1 with a 2.09 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 50.1 innings of work so far this season.
