Malia Gementera (Fr., Chula Vista, Calif.) & Taylor Hagenah (Fr., Oceanside, Calif.), Long Beach State    Beach Volleyball Pairs Team of the Week

• The No. 3 pairing of Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah led Long Beach State to a perfect 4-0 record over the weekend to claim their first-ever Big West Beach Volleyball Pairs Team of the Week award.
• The freshmen duo rolled off four wins to improve their season mark to 12-4. Gementera and Hagenah dropped just one set in their four matches, including a pair of wins over No. 16 Stetson.  In Friday’s 3-2 team victory over the Hatters, Gementera and Hagenah needed a third set to close out the match, coming back to win, 18-21, 21-14, 15-7, while securing the crucial third team point. 
• The 13th-ranked Beach posted a sweep of Texas, a 4-1 win over Utah and the pair of tight 3-2 victories over Stetson. Long Beach State has now secured team wins against their last three ranked opponents (No. 13 FAU, No. 16 Stetson). 
• Gementera and Hagenah join teammates and No. 5 tandem Natalie Glenn and Maggie Walters as weekly winners thus far in 2023. Glenn and Walters took home the season’s first distinction.
