Two First-Time Winners in McKnight and Narancich Join Repeat Honorees Saran and Meyer in Big West Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week 
Briana McKnight | Senior • Outside Hitter • Scottsdale, Ariz.
  • 8134UC Santa Barbara’s Briana McKnight was the main offensive weapon for the Gauchos in a pair of UCSB wins to claim a first career Big West Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week award.  

  • McKnight averaged 4.14 kills per set on the way to UC Santa Barbara defeating Cal Poly and Hawai’i on the road. 

  • The senior outside hitter finished with 15 kills and eight digs in the four-setter against the Mustangs before capping the weekend in O’ahu with a14-kill, 10-dig double-double in the sweep of Hawai’i. 

  • The Gauchos are currently leading The Big West standings with a 13-1 mark in league play, with two weekends remaining in the regular-season slate

Defensive Player of the Week 
Jasmine Saran, UC San Diego | Sophomore • Middle Blocker • Temecula, Calif.
  • 8138UC San Diego sophomore Jasmine Saran earned a second Big West Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week of the season after the Tritons swept through a pair of foes.  

  • Saran averaged 2.17 blocks per set in a 2-0 weekend for the Tritons, recording a 100th block of the season on Saturday. Saran became just the second Triton in the Division I era to reach 100 blocks in a season.  

  • The middle blocker tallied 13 blocks in six sets on the court, including a career-best 10 blocks (1 solo) in a 3-0 sweep of CSUN in which the Tritons set a Division I program record with 19 team blocks. Saran finished second on the team with 25 points over the weekend (4.17 per set), adding three aces, 15 kills (2.50 per set) and hitting .448.

Setter of the Week 
Zayna Meyer, Long Beach State | Redshirt Sophomore • Setter • Wheaton, Ill.
  • 8042Long Beach State setter Zayna Meyer piloted the Beach to a pair of three-setters to scoop up Big West Setter of the Week for the fourth time this season and third time in the last four weeks. 

  • LBSU hit a combined .349 attack percentage as the squad rolled to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield. The Beach has now extended their winning streak to eight. 

  • Meyer averaged 10.33 assists per set to go along with 1.83 digs per set, 1.33 kills per set on a .412 hitting percentage (8-1-17). In the first match of the week, Meyer finished with 29 assists, five digs, three kills, and two aces. The redshirt sophomore distributed 33 assists, with six digs, and five kills on a .625 hitting percentage (5-0-8) on Saturday.

Freshman of the Week 
Livi Narancich, Long Beach State | Freshman • Outside Hitter • San Marcos, Calif.
  • Long Beach State’s Livi Narancich earned a pair of starts over the weekend for the Beach and secured a first career Big West Freshman of the Week honor.  

  • Narancich finished the week averaging 2.83 kills per set on a .484 attack percentage (17-2-31), while also adding 1.00 digs per set, and 0.33 blocks per set with wins over CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield.  

  • The freshman outside hitter made a collegiate debut against the Matadors and posted nine kills on a .389 clip (9-2-18), while logging six digs, and adding one block.  

  • The San Marcos, Calif., native followed that performance with eight kills on a .615 attack percentage (8-0-13) against the Roadrunners to help the Beach extend their winning streak to eight. LBSU is one game back from league-leading UCSB in The Big West standings with two weekends remaining in the regular season.
