Bruno Chiappini of Long Beach State Chosen As Final Big West Weekly Award Recipient

  • 32247Long Beach State utility Bruno Chiappini boasts Big West Player of the Week honors for the final rendeition of the 2023 season. 

  • Prior to earning the weekly accolade, Chiappini played in the PanAm Games in Santiago, Chile and returned to Long Beach, Calif. with a silver medal for the teams performance. 

  • The sophomore helped No. 8 nationally ranked Long Beach State defeat No. 12 nationally ranked LMU after recording a new career high in goals (6). Two of the six tallies came in overtime as the Beach outlasted the Lions, 16-14 (OT). So far, Chiappini has amassed 45 goals and 21 assists ahead of the postseason. 
  • Long Beach State is 16-11 overall (2-3 BW) and have clinched the No. 5 seed in the upcoming 2023 Big West Men's Water Polo Championship in La Jolla, Cailf. at Canyonview Aquatic Center on the campus of UC San Diego. The Beach will square off against No. 4 UC Davis to kick things off in the opening round of the championship at 4:30 p.m. PT.
